Psst... Please, pass this note!

I conceived and led the development of a free online tool designed to empower educators to easily discover and advocate for high-quality books in their school or classroom libraries. To amplify its impact, I launched the “Pass The Note” campaign—encouraging educators to share valuable resources and recommendations within their school communities.

Educators are often overburdened and operate within tight budget constraints. This tool directly addresses those challenges by saving time and supporting their efforts to secure funding and resources. It consolidates essential book information—including reading levels, genres, reviews, and free educational materials—into one easy-to-use platform.

Our innovation lies in integrating professionally curated book lists selected by expert librarians, and building a flexible export feature that allows educators to generate customized PDFs as presentations, recommended reading lists, or teacher book evaluation worksheets for curriculum recommendations.

The tool enables educators to tailor book lists for specific audiences—such as students who are reluctant readers, parents seeking to support literacy at home, or administrators evaluating curriculum impact. By making it easier to identify and share books that foster a love of reading, the tool furthers the mission of getting the right books into the hands of every child. There is currently no other free tool that offers this combination of features and accessibility.

Since its launch in October 2024, the tool has already been used over 260 times, with growing engagement from educators across the world.

To learn more about the team project and how we implemented it, I wrote and published a Linkedin Article.
